AI clone FAQ, straight answers before you record
These are the questions people ask before they record a clone of themselves: who can make one, whether viewers can tell it is AI, how billing works and what happens to the recording. If your question is not here, write to support@idclone.com and you get a reply from a person who knows the product.
Your clone
What exactly is an IdClone clone?
It is two models built from your own recording: a video clone that presents any script with your face, expressions and lip movement, and a voice clone that reads text in your voice. You record a 2 minute training video and a 60 second voice sample once, and every video after that starts from a typed script. The full path is on the how AI clone works page.
Does the clone actually look and sound like me?
It is built from your own footage and your own voice, in your own framing and background, so it carries your face, your way of speaking and your accent. Likeness depends mostly on the recording: soft even light, the camera at eye level and a quiet room for the voice sample make the biggest difference. You get a test clip to check the likeness before you make anything with it.
Who owns my clone and the videos I make?
You do. The clone belongs to the account owner it was recorded for, and the videos and audio you export are yours to use under the terms of service. Delete a clone any time and its model files are removed.
Can I have more than one clone?
Yes. Starter includes 1 personal clone, Pro 2, Business 5 and Enterprise 20. A second clone can be a different look of you, or a teammate who recorded their own consent from their own invite.
Consent and safety
Can someone clone me without my permission?
No. Before any clone is built, the person on camera takes a live selfie check and reads a spoken consent statement with a one time phrase, and both are matched to the training footage. A teammate's clone is built only from their own recording, sent from their own invite. Uploading someone else's video does not create a clone.
Can I clone a celebrity, a politician or a client's CEO?
No. IdClone makes clones of your own likeness only, or of a person who records their own consent through their own invite. Public figures, celebrities and politicians are blocked, and impersonation, fraud and deception are prohibited. The full list is in the acceptable use policy.
Do I have to upload an ID card or passport?
No. No identity documents are uploaded, scanned or processed at any point. The check is a live selfie and your spoken consent, matched to your training recording.
Will people know the video is AI?
Every export carries content credentials metadata that identifies it as AI-generated, and you can add a visible AI-generated label on screen. We recommend telling your audience, and many companies require it in their own policies. More on how this works is on the consent and safety page.
Video and voice
How long can a video be?
As long as your monthly minutes allow. The editor shows the estimated length of every scene and the total before you render, so you always know how many minutes a video uses. Most training updates and sales follow-ups land between one and four minutes.
Can I use my voice clone without video?
Yes. Voice clone minutes are separate from video minutes: 40 a month on Starter, 120 on Pro, 300 on Business and 700 on Enterprise. Use them for voice-overs, podcast intros and course narration, and export WAV or MP3. See the voice cloning page for details.
Can I put new audio on footage I already have?
Yes. The lip sync module puts new audio, including a translation in your own voice, on your own existing footage. It is described on the AI lip sync page.
What resolution do exports have?
Starter exports in 1080p. Pro, Business and Enterprise export in 1080p and 4K.
Languages
Which languages can my clone speak?
Starter covers 10 languages and Pro and higher plans cover 30+, including Spanish, German, French and Portuguese. Your clone speaks each one in your own voice, with the lip movement matched to the new audio.
Can I check a translation before it is rendered?
Yes. Each translated script opens for review before rendering, so you can fix terms, names and tone. This matters most for training, legal and product content. Read more on the AI video translator page.
Do translated versions use extra minutes?
Yes. Each language is its own finished video, so its length counts against your monthly video minutes. A two minute video in three languages uses about six minutes.
Plans and billing
Can I try IdClone before paying?
Yes, with the video preview, which costs nothing and needs no card: it splits your script into scenes, estimates duration and minutes and plays a recorded sample. There is no free plan, and no video is generated until you choose a paid plan and verify your own clone.
How much does IdClone cost?
Starter is $49 a month or $24 a month billed yearly ($288), Pro $149 or $74 ($888), Business $499 or $249 ($2,988) and Enterprise $1,499 or $749 ($8,988). Paying yearly saves 50 percent. Compare everything on the pricing page.
How do monthly minutes work?
Each plan includes avatar video minutes and voice clone minutes every month: 8 and 40 on Starter, 25 and 120 on Pro, 90 and 300 on Business, 300 and 700 on Enterprise. They reset at the start of each billing month. Moving to a higher plan gives you more minutes right away.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time from your account. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and your access runs to the end of the period you already paid for.
What happens when I upgrade?
The difference between your current plan and the higher one is charged right away, and the new plan with its minutes, clones and seats is active as soon as that payment goes through.
Do you give refunds?
Payments are final. We refund only a double charge, a charge you prove was unauthorized, or a period in which the service failed completely. Cancelling stops future charges but does not refund the period already paid.
Teams and API
How do teams work?
Starter has 1 seat, Pro 3, Business 10 and Enterprise 50. Business and Enterprise add owner, editor and reviewer roles, approval before publishing, consent record export and client workspaces for agencies. Enterprise adds SSO (SAML), SCIM, a 99.9 percent uptime SLA, annual invoice, DPA and audit log export, with the same self-serve signup. See the enterprise page.
Which plans include the API?
Business and Enterprise. The API creates videos from templates with variables such as first name and company and calls your webhook when a video is ready. API renders draw from your plan's video minutes, and Enterprise has higher rate limits. Details are on the AI avatar API page.
Data and privacy
What happens to my recordings?
They are used only to build and run your own clone. They are never used to train shared models and no other account can select your clone. The full policy is on the privacy page.
What happens when I delete a clone?
The clone disappears from your account and its model files and training recordings are removed. Videos you already exported stay with you. The consent record is kept only as long as needed to show that the clone was made with consent.
